Tizzy Tamer is an app to help improve your childs behavior and reduce or limit temper tantrums, meltdowns, and emotional outbursts.

Let’s face it. Our little tykes can break down into a tizzy with little notice. A child’s good behavior is a skill that’s developed from the interactions between the child and those around him or her. Use this behavior app to assist your child in learning through experience what behavior is good and what is bad.

Children learn from things they can relate to. It is easy for a child to relate to the colors of a traffic light. Red means stop, yellow means proceed with caution, and green means go. This behavior app uses this language that your child already understands. Red means stop and sit in time out, yellow means slow down and green means go and have fun.

This app uses simple illustrations of a happy green face, neutral yellow face, and a sad red face. The images are clean and very visible to a child. This app does not incorporate flashy images that can distract your child from paying attention to you.

Tizzy Tamer can be used with all of your children. Each child added to the list can be edited and saved on an individual basis. The list can track the moods of as many children as you add.

To add your child to the Tizzy Tamer app, touch the “+” icon in the navigation bar. Next, select a mood by swiping the main image right or left or by selecting a color button below the main image. Once a mood is selected, add the child’s name to the text box and save the mood. This will add the child to the main screen.

To edit or change a child’s mood, simply tap on the child’s name to return to the mood selector and choose a new mood by swiping right or left on the image.

To remove a child’s name from the list, select edit in the navigation bar or swipe the child’s name and tap delete.

Helpful tips to make this app enriching:

It is time for a time out for your child when the red face is selected. Make sure the child knows he or she is now on red. Change the image so the child can see the change, and let him or her know that this makes you just as sad as the unhappy red face.

Time out should only last for a few minutes. After a few minutes have passed, kneel down to eye level with your child and calmly discuss why he or she is in time out. Then have the child apologize for the negative behavior, and end time out with a good hug. Once out of time out, be sure to share the image change from red to green with your child watching and celebrating the recovery to good behavior. It is always rewarding to make the change to green with a nice high five to the child.

At bedtime, discuss with your child the colors used during that day. If the child was on red, praise the child’s efforts to move back to green. If the child was on green all day, praise the child and praise the child to others so that he or she is aware of the praise and how proud you are of the good behavior. This will help build confidence in your child and repeat good behavior. You will be surprised how well your child understands the moods of the Tizzy Tamer app and how quickly your child’s behavior improves.

Be consistent with this app and no matter where you are, if your child starts to misbehave, use this app to help tame that tizzy and get him or her back on track.
